EP6: The Hidden Cause

Commentaries by Vee Jay Attri during the Book Study - Secrets of Karma

Mental Karma

Let us continue from where we left from the Secrets of Karma book. We were talking about the mental karma, how even through your thoughts, you generate either a positive or a negative karma. Thoughts, you have to be so careful, extremely careful. You take a special note of this.

Every problem begins with an unwholesome thought. It is like whenever you touch something that is not clean; dirty, your fingers or hands get dirty. The same thing happens when you touch someone’s weakness with your mind, it is like touching something dirty. Your mind inevitably will also become dirty.

That is the karmic consequence of thinking of the weaknesses of the people, of the limitations of the people. So, be very careful in not thinking about the limitations, the weaknesses, or for that matter, any flaws in that person. You will inevitably get contaminated over a period of time.

Then, what you think is the weakness of others, will become yours. That is the law and that is the reason why, we always keep reminding you about right focus.

Focus on the qualities of the person if ever you want to think about the person. It’s a very useful thing for you to keep your mind highly uplifted by connecting with great beings, by connecting with masters, by connecting with God. That is a better option, but if you have to think about people, think of that person as an angel, as a being made in the image of God.

Just try to recall somebody right now! Think of people who had harmed you, with whom you are having any kind of misunderstanding or people whom you do not like that much. As you think of the person, just be aware of your heart center.

Radiate pure love, selfless love, experience pink light radiating towards that person. You silently say:

I salute the divinity in you. You are a child of God and you are made in the image of God. There are so many beautiful things about you. I recognize those good things, those good qualities in you. I salute the divinity in you.

Continue radiating beautiful love, light and power towards that person. Radiate so much of power, so much of selfless love that your peace, your love helps the person to get transformed. Right now, you are generating a good karma.

So, that is exactly the reason why we never ever think of the limitations of the people. Sometimes, it is possible that it comes in your mind, quickly you will use a very important affirmation: I recall and cancel this thought! We shall be talking about this as we proceed with this book but right now, always use this important affirmation: I recall and cancel this thought!

You can also use certain disintegrating techniques, where the energy that you created by having a negative thought you are disintegrating it and quickly be aware of the heart center, project pink light to that person. Visualize that person in a flood of pink light and say:

I bless you with lots of love, lots of peace. May God’s blessing be upon you. May you become a wholesome soul, may you the soul be empowered with light, love and power.

That is exactly how, you can keep on generating good karma every moment. Do not lose an opportunity to generate good karma, especially during these very challenging times, the entire humanity is undergoing. People are really tired of complaints and criticisms.

When somebody criticizes me or gives me some complaints, sometimes I do also get tired. So, when repeatedly, if you got only complaints and criticisms, no matter even God is with you, that person will get tired because the whirlpool of psychic energies that are surrounding the planet today is so intense, that even the slightest provocation can create a tsunami in the lives of people.

Please remember this: If ever you have to say something, say something good. If you have to say something not so good, say it with a compassionate heart. First, describe the good qualities in the person, maybe two or three good things about the person.

The moment you say that, perhaps you will realize, you would not be tempted to say anything negative about that person. Let us transform the people with our peace, with the power of our love. That is the easiest way.

Refrain from complaining, even mental criticism, avoid it as much as possible and use the simple technique of disintegrating all unwholesome thoughts. Again a gentle reminder, just like when you touch something dirty, you will dirty your fingers or your hand.

In the same way with your mind, when you describe or think of the weaknesses of somebody, it is like touching something dirty. You will get contaminated and that negative karma comes back to you manifold.

Alright, let’s continue with our discussion. There is a very beautiful quote from Lord Christ:

Verbal Karma

What comes out of your mouth is more important than what goes into the mouth.
Jesus Christ

So, we are now talking about verbal karma. So far, we have been talking about mental karma, now we are talking about verbal karma.

Like thoughts, words carry power. Positive and nurturing words enhance healing and growth while negative words harm and block progress. So, your kind words create good karma while your unkind and harsh words cause bad karma.

So, in our tradition, our elders used to say from the childhood, every time you say something, the higher beings; we call them Devas, the angels, they say: “Tathastu!”.Tath-Astu means So be it, also Inshallah; whatever language, May this happen!

Remember, whatever you say good or bad, that’s exactly what happens. You empower whatever you say for yourself and for the person towards whom you project this energy. For example, if you are going to tell your children or your spouse or anybody, “You will never change, you always will cheat me like this, ” exactly that is what you want that person to do more to you.

That is the reason why, you have to be so careful about what is coming out of your mouth. Listen very carefully what the Lord said, What comes out of the mouth is more important than what goes into the mouth.

So, I was listening to Grand Master Choa Kok Sui once. He said that if you are eating a non vegetarian food, you are contaminating your vehicle. Your physical body or your etheric body gets contaminated with the grosser energies of the meat whereas when you say something, you are contaminating the soul.

It’s better to contaminate your vehicle rather than contaminating your soul by your foul speech. Do not even utter for fun sake, negative words. This is not very useful.

So, one common word that sometimes I hear in Mauritius, people use, I don’t even want to say it, neither I can pronounce it properly but it is something opposite of a wise person. I hope you know what I’m talking about.

So, this is also not useful. You don’t have to say something negative in a loving way. The energy that comes out of your mouth is already negative. In some way, it will affect the person and more importantly, even before you throw the mud on somebody, it is impossible for you not to dirty yourself and that is the reason why you have to be very careful about all this.

Alright, let us move on.

The Hidden Cause

Master, who did sin, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?
The disciples of Jesus, John 9:2

So, it’s a very beautiful dialogue happening between the apostles, the disciples of Lord Christ and the Lord himself. They were walking along and then, on the street, they happened to see a blind man and the disciple wanted to know how this man was born blind?

Was it because of the sin that was actually committed by this person previously? Now, that’s a very important question. If the sin was committed before the person was born, then, obviously it means the person had lived before.

So, this is actually talking about reincarnation. Whether you accept it or not, someday it will be useful for you to ponder upon. It is not about a religious discussion, it is about a spiritual understanding and that is very important.

If one reaps what he sows, then how is it that good people, even innocent children and newborns suffer much?

Moreover, all that one sows are not reaped within a lifetime and sometimes the offender gets away with the crime.

More often, it happens, aren’t you seeing it? How many times people do so much of crime, so much of harm to people, regardless of which level they are but nothing is happening to them apparently? Life goes and they are already off from one lifetime, then where does all this karma goes?

That’s a very important question you have to ask. Moreover, all that one sows are not reaped within a lifetime and sometimes the offender gets away with the crime.

There is a quote from Exodus, Chapter 21 Verse 24-25, it says: ‘Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand.’ So, the question is how then people would pay eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand ?That’s a very important question you have to ask. Surely, they will have to come back in another lifetime to pay their karmic debts! One lifetime in your journey on earth is like a halt at a station.

Lord Krishna said, “As a man casting off worn-out garments, take new ones, so the dweller in the body casting off worn-out bodies, enter into new ones.” Extraordinary profound teachings from a great master.
