Commentaries by Vee Jay Attri during the Book Study – Secrets of Karma
We shall proceed for the study from the Secrets of Karma. We were reading on the law of balance.
Extreme activities in one lifetime may result in a compulsive path that would force you to walk in an opposite direction in another lifetime.
Thus, a sinner can tread a saintly path and the tyrant be made to work like a slave. Through the pairs of opposites, karma tames the soul and forces it to evolve.
These are all very deeper levels of the secrets of karma. If you have not experienced it, difficult for you to really understand. When you look into so many activities that are happening globally, you can easily relate every happenings with certain aspect of karma. As we keep reminding without a cause, there is no effect.
That means, every conditions that come on our path are not coincidences. They are all perfectly having a cause. A cause that we are not able to realize. So, repeatedly if you are facing certain situations or conditions, this is a very important thing to ponder upon what could be the probable root cause of this situation.
Without addressing the root cause, very difficult to transform the conditions. The moment you recognize that there is a problem with what you have done in the past, that itself is a mighty power.
That responsibility, accepting the situation because of your own acts of the past, that power that you bring in the process of realization, can certainly help you to move forward rapidly in resolving the crisis.
Nature tends to bring balance in everything.
People realize that there has been a definite purpose for many events of their past and are indicators to the path of balance that one needs to tread.
So, many of the spiritual aspirants, one of the most important thing that they do is self analysis. Analysis of their life, what exactly is happening? As they start deeply pondering upon, it is like connecting the points one after the other.
You will be led to activities of your own life in the past and sometimes even to previous lifetimes of activities that brings some light to the puzzle that you are facing every day. Why like this, what is happening, why me?
Many at times, I hear from people that there is a kind of awakening that is happening deep within themselves to realize that they need to heal certain portion of their past and once the mind is set in that direction, the energies are automatically channeled and the healing happens.
The point is to find the root cause, that is important. If you have the habit of simply pointing fingers on others, not taking any responsibility for your conditions, then you are living a life of ignorance. This would not help you at all.
So, the drop of the hat, if there is a tendency to point fingers at others, get angry or frustrated, you need to ask yourself what is happening to your life. In the absence of that, you can spend a whole lifetime and you would end up with the same situations over and over again.
Healing of the past is so important. Sometimes, healings have to be channeled to the people who have been connected with you in the past. That is the purpose of doing blessings. Any meditation that you do, include blessings to all the people who had been connected with you in the past.
Sometimes, people use the word ancestral healing. That is a very fancy word. Essentially, there is no technique that is really needed for this activity. Techniques are very good, but what is more important is the intention. That is very important.
So, if the motive and intention is set properly and firmly towards healing the past, towards healing people whom we had consciously or unconsciously harmed, that energy of love, that energy of compassion and forgiveness is permeating to us and to the people connected with us.
So, you have to heal the past. That is exactly how things can improve and one of the most powerful tools for healing the past is forgiveness, blessings and together with that generating good karma.
Then, you don’t have to go through so many challenges of life. Whether it is physical, psychological, relationship, financial, you will find a substantial improvement happening gradually. But patience is very important. Do not be in a hurry!
You cannot resolve karmic issues that are stemming from several lifetimes of activities in just a matter of few days. It needs perseverance. You need to have patience! This is absolutely important.
Nature tends to bring balance in everything.
People realize that there has been a definite purpose for many events of their past and are indicators to the path of balance that one needs to tread. For example, we came across aspirants on the spiritual path being asked to be celibate at a young age and end up frustrated due to inability to cope up with the demand.
One of the reasons for this forced abstinence could be that it is nature’s way of bringing balance to an excessive indulgence in passion in a previous lifetime.
So, if you have not come across such situations or people, difficult for you to understand what is being expressed here. We had repeatedly seen for many spiritual aspirants who struggle the whole of their life.
They keep battling with the situation, not realizing that it is simply a path of balance that they have to tread. That understanding makes everything easier. In the absence of understanding and in the light of wisdom, difficult!
You have to really work with your past diligently, understanding what is happening to your life. So, the moment the understanding comes, the awakening naturally happens. Then, there is no forced activity.
There is a sense of responsibility that comes together with understanding of what could have happened in the past. Once the understanding comes, then, you start liking what you are doing.
Then, the life moves with a definite purpose that you have to conquer a particular weakness that has been a part of me. So, it becomes a purpose driven life, not something that you force yourself to do but something that you cherish yourself because this is exactly what is the right thing to do.
If you do not do things out of love and understanding, such things do not stay with you for long, whether it is your spiritual practices or any other activities of yourlife. If there is sufficient understanding, then the aspect of love automatically comes.
Then, you love doing what you are doing rather than forcing yourself to do. For example, if you are repeatedly having challenges in your work environment, having difficult bosses, difficult people or colleagues to work with, ask yourself, “What kind of karma that I have done in the past?
What kind of stress, what kind of pressure that I have been exerting on people in the past? Is it possible that I am simply reaping what I have sown in the past?” If that understanding is coming deep within yourself, then automatically, you will start accepting the situation.
There are only three options more often in your life. One is, the first and foremost thing is, if you can fight, then fight! Fighting doesn’t actually mean that you start fighting externally. Fighting is basically, a situation is in front of you and you have to confront it.
How do you confront it? What kind of challenges that you can set for yourself? How can you transform yourself? Transforming yourself is not an easy cup of tea. It is sometimes a lot of challenges. That is a first step, fighting. You have to fight like a warrior to put things in place.
If it is an external event, if you can find yourself in a position to fight, meaning for example, so much of injustice, you have to fight for that. You cannot simply accept things because you have to accept. That is not the trait of a warrior.
If you know it is an injustice, you have to fight for that and you have to set the things correctly. But, having done whatever best you could do, things do not change, then, the second important aspect is flow.
So, fight that has already happened, you tried your level best in setting things correctly, it did not work. You have to remind yourself, still, there is some portion of the past that is to be healed. That is exactly where we come to blessing and forgiveness.
So, if fighting doesn’t work, you have to come to the second step of flowing as far as possible. Flowing, not in a fait accompli situation where you keep regretting that it is my karma, what to do and so on, no!
Flowing means “I am accepting the conditions of my life and now, through the power of forgiveness and blessing, I am slowly transforming the situation.”
So, understanding, coupled with forgiveness and blessing can really help you. So, flowing is acceptance with understanding. Flowing is blessing with forgiveness. All this really matter a lot. So, first one is you fight, not internally. Internally, you maintain your calm and your peace.
Externally, you try your level best to set the conditions perfectly. So, there are times when we have to raise our voice. We have to be very tough and we have to take a tough stand. If you do not do that, then, people do not learn their lessons easily. Sometimes, we have to take certain tough stands, but this tough stand is not out of reaction or anger. It’s because that’s the right thing to do, like a warrior.
That part is over, you are finding that it is not helping much. The second step is acceptance and then, we start creating the understanding and using the power of forgiveness and blessings, we start flowing with the situation, allowing the thing to get transformed by itself. The third step is fleeing. So, fight, flow and flee!
If nothing is really working, blessings are not working, situations are not changing and your time is getting wasted over and over again for a prolonged period of time, there comes a point in time when you say, “Ok, I have done all that I could do. Things did not happen the way I wanted it to be!”
Then, the next stage is just learning to be detached. Fleeing means not running away from the situation. A warrior never ever leaves the battlefield. That is not the trait of a warrior. Many at times, we come across this kind of weak people, especially at the climax of the most crucial moment of the battle.
Some soldiers simply abandon the field and run away. This karma will catch you for eons of times, no matter how far you run away. Because you abandoned at a time when your presence was needed the most, this karma continues.
Then, the challenges actually multiply. This is not the way. So, when we say flee, it means practicing ‘Sakshi Drishta!’ Learning to be an observer and practicing 100% detachment that I am not going to be entangled with this situation anymore. Cut, cut, cut! Release and that’s about it .
All the three steps you have to understand carefully; fight, flow and flee! When you are able to successfully execute these three steps, life automatically will become better, definitely. This is our experience.
