“Good wishes, prayers and loving thoughts are of value to those to whom they are sent. They form a protective shield encircling them, and ward off many evil influence and danger” – Annie Besant
You can also generate good karma by blessing people and the world. Your blessings will give strength and hope to others, and will come back to you manifold.
Do not harbour ill-will even towards people who cause harm to you as your negative thoughts and feelings will only make it worse, and also prevent you from healing your karmic imbalances with them. Moreover, no one can harm you if you do not have a ‘debt’ to pay. Therefore, instead of getting upset, bless them so that you can balance your karma.
Guidelines to bless– Take a few deep breaths and relax. Focus on the centre of your chest where there is an energy centre called ‘Heart Chakra’ that helps to experience inner peace, love and compassion. You may silently affirm: “I am a being of peace, love and compassion.”
Bring your hands in front of you, with your palms facing out, in a blessing gesture. Or you may keep your hands on your lap with palms facing up. Imagine a small earth and silently say: “I bless the world with peace, love, joy and abundance. May every person, every being be blessed with happiness.” You may also bless in other ways, even through prayers, such as the prayer of St Francis of Assisi. In the same way, bless your country, your family and your friends.
Bless people who are depressed and in pain. Silently say, “May you be blessed with divine strength. May you be healed, whole and complete.”
Bless any person having a weakness or vice that he cannot overcome. You may silently affirm, “May you be blessed with inner strength and willpower to overcome this weakness. With God’s blessings, so be it.”
Also bless your organisation, projects and goals. Bless your teachers, parents and peers. If you are a teacher, bless your students. You may also bless the political leaders of your country and of the world with the will to do good.
Bless people with whom you have a difficult time or any misunderstanding. Silently say, “I bless you with peace. May all obstacles that prevent us from having a harmonious relationship be healed.”
As you send blessings, feel and trust that it is being accomplished. Also, send blessings especially after your prayer or meditation as there will be more power in them.
