Attitude of Gratitude

A deep feeling of gratitude for all that life has offered in itself is positive karma and brings more joy and abundance to life, while ingratitude is bad karma that attracts misery and scarcity.

People are often unhappy and frustrated due to a lack of gratitude. They do not value anything and take everything for granted. And there are many who do not progress in life, despite getting every support and help, due to ingratitude. They even speak ill of those who supported them in difficult times!

Some people have to complain about something or the other. Once a man came to our Centre, and as he entered he said, “I am very tired and exhausted; too much traffic on the highway.” He had a new, luxury car and the roads are smooth with disciplined traffic. Also, wherever you stop on the highway, you can have a glimpse of spectacular nature- majestic mountains filled with many shades of green, stunning blue sky, and, sometimes, the soothing blue sea. You feel so good and rejuvenated. But all these were not good for him, because he was not aware of those blessings. He could not see beyond the traffic!

No matter what the conditions of your life are, you will still have many good things that you tend to take for granted. For instance, millions do not have food and the shelter that you have; and there are blind people who are not blessed with the eyes you have to appreciate the beauty of the creation.

Never compare yourself with others. “The grass is greener on the other side!” You may think other’s life is better than yours, but often it could be the contrary. Moreover, everyone comes with their own ‘karmic package.’ So neither compare, nor complain; and be grateful for all that you have. Then more will come.
